Slow is beautiful - Group Ideas

As a group we came up with ideas to start our unit x project. We started by figuring out what the word "Slow is beautiful" meant to us and then we starting coming up with more ideas after this. This project had to be based around manchester and so we started trying to connect slow is beautiful to manchester and what was slow and beautiful in manchester?
Here were a few ideas:
  • Slow process- Handcraft- hand and machine embroidery?
  • embroidery- intricacy, delicacy, making something last? Deeper/ Beautiful meaning.
  • Processes- Developing, growing. Slow/long process. Eroding/decaying. Changing state
  • Manchester- History of manchester, pasrt/present. demolition of builiding, things growing in manchester.
  • cotton mill, materials?
Looking from the list of artists that were given to us, we found a few interesting and linked to our work.
  • Aurore Thibot
  • Tactility Factory- experienced with different materials and hand stitch
  • Lara Torres
